Week 2: Grateful in a world full of wants

Hi there!

Wanted to share something that I felt this morning as I was laying in bed shopping for totes on my phone. I was thinking about how I really needed a big tote for my upcoming trip to Mexico. As I laid there, I thought about other things I wanted to buy like some new sneakers, clothes, and other things.

All of a sudden, I felt sad because there was a lot I needed and wasn’t getting at that moment. Suddenly, I started to think of all the amazing things I did have and it hit me that instead of feeling sorry for myself for what I don’t have, I should feel grateful because there are so many things that I do have.

At that moment I turned off my phone and began thanking God for every blessing that came to my mind. We live in a world that’s constantly telling us that what we have is not enough, that we need more things in order to be happy, and that we can obtain anything we set our mind on, but I realized right then and there that sometimes it’s important to be content with what we have and simply learn to say, thank you God for every blessing I’ve woken up to this morning.

Now don’t get me wrong, I have dreams and goals that I want to achieve, some of which even include material things I’d like to eventually have, but I wouldn’t want to wake up every morning thinking about what I don’t have instead of being grateful for every blessing I do have.

And that’s what I want you to think about today. Can you take a moment to count your blessings? What’s something you have maybe you’re not appreciating as much as you should be.

I know the world of social media is constantly showing us what we don’t have and sometimes comparison is inevitable, but just remember that what you have is what someone is wishing and praying they had, so don’t take it for granted. Instead, look around you and appreciate every single thing you’ve been blessed with!

Hope you have an amazing day!

Love,

Flor

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
